A delegation from the University of Nottingham visited SWUFE-UD Institute of Data Science at SWUFE

On April 19th, a delegation from the University of Nottingham included Professor Jimmy Huang, Associate Dean for Global Engagement of Nottingham University Business School, Anney An, Head of Partner Relations and Projects for Global Markets, and Lily Ma, Senior International Partnerships Manager and Head of Shanghai Office visited SWUFE-UD Institute of Data Science at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. Professor YANG Shilei, Dean of SWUFE-UD Institute of Data Science at SWUFE, and Mr. WANG Binyu, Associate Dean and Associate Party General Branch Secretary of the Institute, and other colleagues engaged in discussions with the visitors.



Yang Shilei expressed his warm welcome to the delegation for traveling across borders to visit our Institute, and introduced SWUFE’s history, educational philosophy, specialized courses, student cultivation, and teaching quality assurance. He highlighted the Institute's efforts to create an international model for cultivating first-class undergraduates in the field of "New Finance and Economics." He also emphasized the importance of high-quality international exchanges and development, expressing hopes for deep cooperation between the two institutions in terms of project collaboration, student cultivation, academic exchanges, and mutual visits by teachers and students.


Jimmy Huang and Anney An spoke highly of our Institute's student cultivation model, curriculum setting, and teaching system. They introduced the University of Nottingham's background, research level, faculty scale, graduate employment capabilities, and other aspects, hoping to strengthen communication to explore more opportunities for future collaboration.


During the meeting, the two sides had in-depth discussions on cooperative projects related to the Business School and the School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Nottingham. They also exchanged ideas on cross-border learning and communication for undergraduates, summer camps, one-way/two-way overseas exchanges, and other topics. The meeting facilitated a deeper understanding between the two sides and laid a solid foundation for forthcoming cooperation.


After the meeting, Jimmy Huang gave a keynote speech to our students, introducing the University of Nottingham's advanced educational concepts, beautiful campus environment, and diverse student club activities. He also presented the future employment prospects in the field of finance, and explained the applications and market demands for interdisciplinary fields such as financial technology. Jimmy Huang and Lily Ma actively interacted with our students, answering their questions about studying abroad.
