Undergraduate Mentorship Program Meeting of SWUFE-UD Institute of Data Science at SWUFE Was Held

On the afternoon of July 12th, the Undergraduate Mentorship Program Meeting was held at SWUFE-UD Institute of Data Science, where a summary was given of the implementation of the professional advisors’ system in the past year. The conference was attended by three program directors from the Information Management and Information System Program, the Financial Mathematics Program and the Logistics Management Program, as well as 21 professional advisors and administrative staff of the Institute. The conference was hosted by the Dean Prof. Shilei Yang.




Mr. Yang Shilei firstly expressed his thanks to each advisor for their initiative in assuming the responsibilities of the position of professional advisor when the Institute was established. He pointed out that the undergraduate mentorship program is an important measure employed by the Institute to advance the quality of undergraduate students, educate students according to their abilities, implement personalized cultivation, and help students to realize harmonious development in terms of knowledge, ability and quality. He compared and analyzed undergraduate mentorship programs implemented by similar institutes in China, and presented specific suggestions about further optimizing undergraduate mentorship program in the institute, which were discussed during the meeting.




Professional advisors summarized and exchanged their experiences about instructing students in the past year. They deemed that advisors should pay attention to students’ school work and give them instruction in learning skills. Regarding students’ research projects, they stressed it need a long time to make students to have research thinking. The draft for the Measures for the Implementation of Undergraduate Mentorship Program in SWUFE-UD Institute of Data Science at SWUFE was also discussed on the conference.
